Art blog on event - Expression of Surrealism

"Expression of surrealism" was an art show exhibited in the Dada Bar on 65 Post St. San Francisco from February 20th through 31st. The show featured the works of 4 bay area emerging artist; Jerry Frost, Avery Palmer, Anthony Tablizo and Wesely Wright. Their work featured the intersections of surrealism, dadaism, with contemporary art. In a wise variety of drawings, paintings and sculptures of various mediums. The exhibition was curated by Robert Melton. For this event I found specialy intriguing Wesley Wright's ceramics sculpture. This piece is presented as an abstract portrait, with a crocked face that is being manipulated with strings attached to a hand. This piece remind me of Remedios Varos's art, because it conveys a proportional realistic yet conceptually unrealistic and almost grotesque. It makes me think of whenever a person is doing or saying things for the benefits of others and not themselves, when someone is being manipulated into saying and expressing

San Francisco

Walk from Pier 1 all the way to pier 39 (sorry), Visit the Sea Lions, watch two carefully and write a short story or poem about them, have fun. Go to Girardelli and get free chocolate samples Go to “Spreckels lake”, take your ukulele and play “Somewhere over the Rainbow” to the ducks or any animal you can find, try to get them to listen to you, record if you can Find the 16th avenue hidden Garden Steps, take a picture of it Hit the steps from Kirkham and lawton. Visit the bookstore called “The Booksmith” try to find a new book you would love to read, take a picture of the cover and write why you want to read it. Buy it if you can. Go to “Billy Goat Hill Park”, Listen to your favorite Beatles album on the way, take a video of you swinging on a swing. Meet me at Lake Merced.

San Diego

Go to Seaport Village Park, where we went to see the San Diego Symphony play during summer and listen to “Rhapsody in Blue” by George Gershwin. Go to the Contemporary Museum of Arts Downtown, enjoy the art, write down your favorite piece, tell me why you liked it. Go to the waterfront park and play with the water Go to University avenue treat yo’ self with a pastry Write something on the “Before I die” Wall, take a selfie Stand by the Pride Flag and sing somewhere over the rainbow, record yourself doing it. Get to the fountain and build a paper boat with our names, let it float and take a picture of it. Walk across balboa park towards the fountain listening to Paper Kites album. Say hello to every person who walks pass you. Walk to the Redwoods circle, lay down looking up tot eh sky while listening to “Woodland” by Paper kites Walk to the Sixth avenue Playground, spin in our favorite game. Go to Balboa Park and stop by the Aromatic Garden. You can’t leave until you hav
